About this artwork

In this oil painting I aimed to capture the fresh, vibrant energy left by a rainstorm on the prairie trail. I was examining a small wetland by the side of Highway 28, which runs from Edmonton east to Bonnyville, Alberta. On the far side of the marsh, there was a half-beaten trail through the prairie field. It had just rained. The reflections in the puddles seemed to dance with the light, revealing the raw beauty of nature’s renewal. I think this… scene brings a sense of calm and hope, with the endless possibility found in the open sky and fertile earth. Sometimes, in odd places which would never appear on a calendar, we feel a celebration of life’s simple, powerful moments.
