About this artwork
This image came from a wonderful summer day when I was conducting an environmental survey for a proposed pipeline east of Peace River, in the province of Alberta. I walked miles and miles that day but stopped to take in this scenic view of the rolling landscape with the yellow sweet-clover in the foreground, setting off the hues of the sky. I sought to bring the wildflowers and vast fields to life, suggesting the fresh breeze that day and hopeful… energy. With all its warm colours, this piece radiates warmth and tranquility, with a joyful connection to the pristine beauty of Alberta’s landscapes. INV#N11026
Bruce Thompson, a self-taught painter and digital artist with a background in ecological sciences, works in watercolours, acrylics, oils, and digital media. His impressionist technique and vibrant palette are inspired by the Group of Seven, and he employs both traditional and digital "brushes" to express dynamic, flowing forms in nature. His art explores delicate ecosystems and the intricate relationship between humanity and the land, conveying a profound reverence for often overlooked natural spaces and evoking both wonder and a sense of ecological soulfulness.
