About this artwork
Preserved is a photographic meditation on impermanence.
In this series, I freeze everyday ingredients — citrus slices, herbs, flowers, seeds — inside blocks of translucent ice. Through light, color, and silence, I create visual poems about memory, time, and preservation.
What began as a background in food photography evolved into a more contemplative visual language, where food is no longer something to be consumed, but something to be witnessed,… revered, and held still — if only for a moment.
Each image captures the fragile beauty of life suspended. The ice melts, but something remains: a core, a trace, a presence.
This work invites the viewer to slow down and look deeper — to see nourishment not just as sustenance, but as a metaphor for transformation, ritual and emotional memory.

Bruna Lins Gomes, a fine art photographer with a background in commercial food photography, crafts her vision through minimalism, conceptual still life, and poetic symbolism. She employs controlled lighting, frozen compositions, and macro perspectives to transform food and natural forms into luminous, contemplative tableaux. Her clean, meditative technique invites the viewer into suspended moments of fragility and endurance. Through her evocative images, she conveys an intimate sense of stillness and sacred beauty, encouraging us to slow down and find wonder in the everyday.
