About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the strength of African women by blending acrylic and sand for a raw texture, evoking the earth and vital energy. African roses, battalion of Agodjiès, standing facing the sun, they are slender and fragile, yet so strong. They stand tall and look towards tomorrow.
The Agodjiés or Amazons of Dahomey were an old all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey (present-day Benin) that existed until the end of… the 19th century.
Each flower seems to vibrate with its own strength, softened by the warm colors of the background, creating a powerful ambiance that will fill your space with an energy that is both soothing and stimulating.
Cécile Biancheri, a self-taught artist, expresses herself through acrylic painting, drawing, and photography, guided by instinct and spontaneity. She explores abstract compositions, blending mixed media, color blocking, and organic and geometric forms to create nuanced and constantly evolving worlds. Her works, influenced by art therapy, resonate with intense emotion, seeking to touch the viewer through a subtle balance of beauty, imperfection, and liberating depth.
