Cain is a passionate British painter who has exhibited throughout the UK. His love of people is what led him to become a portrait painter, and he enjoys how interactions with his subjects expose different layers of new stories. A principal concept in his work is that of 'negative space,' which refers to how he paints his subjects in a way that suggests they're disappearing into the background. Cain's subjects are turned away from the viewer and face the ambiguous story that envelops them, which in turn involves the viewer in the mystery and elusive magic of the work.
