About this artwork
Dans cette œuvre, j'ai voulu faire un hommage à Virginia Woolf, écrivaine, dont le travail et le genre littéraire m'a inspirée.
The dunes seem to rise not from the earth, but from a faint stirring of light itself —
as if morning were remembering how to wake.
Mist glides over their surfaces in slow, unbroken strokes, softening each curve,
until the scene feels less like something seen than something recalled —
a fragment of a dream returning through… layers of silence.
Carine Doutrelepont works with photography, drawing on a self-taught background complemented by specialized training and significant influences. She has refined a style of poetic realism, combining painterly light, intense or subtle colors, movement, and plays of blur, favoring diverse techniques and meticulous printing. Her works transcend reality to evoke contemplation and immersion, as well as a profound connection to the beauty of life, exploring the boundary between nature, humanity, and the imagination. In September 2024, she published Éphémère with Éditions de La Martinière (Paris), a book that brings together several years of work, dedicated to the interplay of the forces of nature and humankind. This book and her exhibition at the La Boverie Museum of Contemporary Art, featuring 120 photographs, including 40 large-format prints, mark a significant step in her European recognition, confirming the singularity of her poetic realism and the breadth of her visual research.
