About this artwork
Among the most heartbreaking images coming from the Ukrainian invasion, I was particularly struck by those of fathers who with painful hugs separated from their family, from their children in tears to reach the front. Ordinary people who led an ordinary life like ours, found themselves having to face a war, men who in that last embrace left the memory of themselves to their children.
As men grow up, they produce children but quickly forget that… they have to take care of them.

« I use every sign that can describe this fleeting present of which we have already forgotten. »
Carlo Inglese is an Italian artist whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. He describes his artistic expression as being based on the observations of our social fabric, arising from the need to "testify what we live" and representing contemporary society. Inglese gathers old posters, ephemeral objects, and any element that captures our time, or arouses a memory or an emotion, and then applies them onto canvas, metal, or wood.
