About this artwork
One day the caterpillar thought the end of the world had come.
His little world was closing in, and he didn't understand why. He didn't know that what seemed like an end was, in reality, the beginning of a transformation.
Thus he entered the silence of his cocoon.
And as everything seemed to stop, the caterpillar whispered:
"One day I will fly."
Someone laughed. How could a creature with only tiny legs for walking fly? But the butterflies… didn't laugh.
They knew a secret that the caterpillar still didn't know: some dreams seem impossible only because their wings haven't appeared yet.
When the cocoon opened, the caterpillar discovered that it hadn't lost itself. It had become what it couldn't yet see.
Perhaps we too go through moments when we think something is ending, when in fact life is preparing us for change.
We can't always see our wings. Sometimes we just have to have the courage to believe they exist.
