About this artwork
With Soufre, I question what constitutes our visible identity. An arm extends a suspended garment, as if presenting to the viewer an envelope ready to be inhabited. The body disappears in the movement while the object remains at the center of the image.
The intense, almost incandescent yellow evokes a state of transformation. Between presence and absence, this photograph questions the role of appearances in the construction of self and our relationship… to the roles we assume daily.
