About this artwork
In my work "Atlantis 3" I tried to capture the mystical and mysterious atmosphere of the legendary city of Atlantis. The color palette consists mainly of cool blues and grays, symbolizing the water and the depth of the ocean. Warm earth tones set accents and remind us of past civilizations and their stories. The use of earth and sand gives the image an additional tactile dimension and combines the elements of nature with the abstracted representation…
of the sunken city. A special feature of this image are the fine lines and lettering that are subtly embedded in the composition. These lines symbolize the traces and secrets that lie hidden beneath the surface. Some are clearly visible, others blur and only become visible upon closer inspection. In the course of the process, new shapes and structures emerged, while others were hidden again.
