The glow of the blue hour. The image is a captivating interplay of liquid fire and profound stillness. At the center of the composition is a powerful, almost tangible patch of intense orange – the setting sun, burning like a glowing seal on the horizon. It seems almost to scorch the canvas at this point as it battles against the approaching blue of evening.
Beneath it is an imaginary river that seems to consist less of water than of reflected gold.… This path of light cuts through the cool, deep blue expanses that dominate the rest of the image like a flaming trail. At the edges of this blue infinity, a dark, suggested shoreline emerges. It acts as a protective boundary between the solid ground and the flowing energy of the light.
