In Username, a figure in a space suit stands against a barren landscape and an orange sky. His face is visible through the visor, but contact with the world outside is restricted to what his equipment allows. The title reduces him to the identity used to log in, suggesting a life carried on elsewhere while his body remains here. Staying online seems ordinary. Stepping outside requires life support.

An American painter based in Germany, McKee works primarily in oil on canvas, using humour, exaggeration, and theatrical imagery to explore power, status, and social behaviour. His strange figures and absurd scenarios invite viewers to consider the systems we live within, the roles we perform, and the discomforts we learn to ignore.
His work has been exhibited internationally at Space K Museum in Seoul, the Moscow Biennale, and the National Arts Club in New York, and featured in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Financial Times, and The Upset, published by Die Gestalten Verlag. He has been artist-in-residence at The Fountainhead Residency in Miami, Florida and the Arctic Hideaway in Norway.
After many years in Berlin, McKee now lives and works in a small village in the German countryside, where distance from city life offers space to observe its rituals, contradictions, and absurdities.
