About this artwork
This painting is part of a series that started early in 2020. It was completed in May of 2020. The "Under Construction" series is essentially about a search for the deeper self and the evolution of the human conditions through the lens of urban development.
This particular painting expresses a fascination with the different faces of a city, how very much like human beings, cities develop different areas at different stages and those differences… can easily be seen when walking a city. There may be a modern skyscraper next to an old church. Likewise, as human beings when we grow and evolve as people, we keep some things from the past which are working and discard others which are dysfunction, replacing them with habits and knowledge we deem to be better at the time. These changes are all part of the evolving human condition.
This painting has a protective matte varnish which keeps dust and UV light from harming the pigments in the paint.
« Art should be a transformative experience, for the artist and the viewer. It is a conversation without words. »
