About this artwork
This particular painting could reflect being 'grounded' as in stable...or it could also reflect being 'grounded' as in stuck, like when a ship runs aground on a sandbar. I consider there to be a very fine line between stable and stuck. The style of the painting has my usual washes and light pours of paint soaked into the canvas to reveal texture and detail. At the same time, there is a thicker layer of earth-colored paint at the bottom portion which,…
to me, connotes the feeling of maintaining curiosity and mystery in life while still having a firm footing.
