About this artwork
Zoom in, Zoom out. Sun Bath is a visual expression of the act of immersing oneself in the environment. Outside on a sunny day. Plant your feet in the ground, look up at the sky and close your eyes.Listen, breath in and breath out, feel your feet up to the top of your head, immerse yourself in sun and heat. You belong to it….at least for now.
Sun Bath is part of a series of paintings called Zoom. They are a study in the act of being in the now……understanding… that yes, there are some concrete things but that reality is what you make it. It’s the accumulation of your experiences, the use of your senses to perceive, and your willingness to let go in the moment and become immersed in your environment in order to truly experience it.
This painting has unpainted edges with drips showing and is treated with a flat, flexible varnish to protect it from sun and dust damage. It is stretched on a 1.5 inch profile canvas and signed on the bottom right.
« Art should be a transformative experience, for the artist and the viewer. It is a conversation without words. »
