About this artwork
This piece is about mentally integrating events of the day (or of the lifetime), when one is ready to morph into whatever comes next. The ability to pause and reflect, the willingness to molt the outer skin and reimagine oneself, perhaps to sprout wings, are part of bravery and resilience.
The otherworldly palette for this artwork was inspired by a watercolor by Emile Nolde which depicted a dreamy sunset. The spatial ambiguity is conducive… to reflection. The third-eye reference suggest a sense of spirituality. The white highlights on the translucent wing shapes call out a sense of optimism.
No photographic process was involved in this artwork: it was created with freehand tablet drawing and a complement of digital techniques.
This piece was a part of the BEINGS exhibit at Ceres Gallery in New York City,
and the AT MIDNIGHT exhibit at the Ashton Gallery in San Diego.
