About this artwork
In the painting "Small and Big Together," I perceive several themes that emerge subtly throughout the artwork. First and foremost, the perspective stands out: the title suggests to me that the size of objects or people can be perceived very differently from a dog's point of view. I also see reflections of relationships, such as the friendship between a large and a small dog, which can coexist and complement each other despite their size differences.… This brings to mind the idea that cooperation and togetherness are essential.
Moreover, the image seems to create a whimsical world where size differences play a less significant role, and everything appears to be in harmony. Together, these elements invite reflection on how we perceive the world, the relationships between different beings, and the value of diversity within friendships and communities. It reaffirms for me that both small and large things have their place in our world.
Charlotte Seuntjens, born in the Netherlands and now based in Spain, is a painter, theater maker, and conceptual artist with a background in fashion and theater design. She creates vivid, multi-layered abstract paintings using a blend of mixed media, with techniques inspired by music, travel, and her theatrical sensibility— each piece visually translating rhythms, harmonies, and lived experiences.
