About this artwork
I express in a line drawing from the state of zero with no image or draft, the emotions that were born from the events of everyday life.
With one raw body, there is only one choice at the turning point of life, but with line drawing you can draw innumerably the life you want to draw.
For the group exhibition called Candle Night Exhibition, I drew while remembering oneself who spent the time of planned blackout immediately after the Great East Japan… Earthquake.
I was looking at the light of the candle with the feeling of praying to return to a calm everyday life.

« My art looks calm, but its contents have a magma-like soul that no one can touch. »
Chiaki Azami is an emerging Japanese painter whose works have already received international exposure. Her images seek to represent the emotions created from the events of everyday life and to communicate a common experience or sentiment to her viewers. Each of Azami's artworks is completed with excruciating detail. Decidedly contemporary in their aesthetic, her images seamlessly blend elements of art nouveau, tattoo, and traditional Japanese ink printing.
