About this artwork
A view over the marsh towards Bazil Point. A thin line of silver shows the river Lune at low tide. This coastal area of Lancashire is positioned west of the Fells (Forest of Boland) and south of the Cumbrian mountains, also visible is the highest point of the Yorkshire Dales. The Lune estuary flows into the Irish sea just south of Morcambe Bay. This area has dangerously fast tides and deadly quicksand's, it is an extremely dynamic landscape.

« I am always trying to discover what the painting is about, the object matter is not the subject matter. »
Chris Macauley believes that a painting should work on a purely visual and descriptive level. The UK-based artist’s painterly and abstract works portray landscapes, as well as the figurative. When creating, Macauley tries to balance control with accidents. He isn’t interested in the realistic copying of his subject matter. Instead, and through color, his compositions radiate an ‘inner glow’.
