About this artwork
Figured started life as a number of life poses painted in acrylics. He then set about merging background colours with the figures and in the process the entire image became heavily abstracted. There is always a point reached in a painting where there is only forward motion with no return to the original. That was certainly the case with this painting. Acrylic on canvas.

« Every artwork is different and knowing how to reproduce a scene or figure in such a way as to express your feelings is immensely satisfying. »
Chris Smith is a painter and printmaker based in the United Kingdom whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in England. Having mainly focused on the figurative and the landscape, he cites his move to Cornwall as inspiring more diverse and expressive translations of the landscape. Smith most often creates with acrylics and oils on canvas, paper, or wood.
