The distinction between inside and outside is a central illusion. The image seduces us into this illusion. It depicts an old window, discarded on the street. When I look at the image, I am simultaneously inside and outside. The image has clear, unpainted paths that allow light to shine through, enabling me to see beyond the image. The background determines the color, becoming the painter. The double-sided pyramid draws us into the image, opening… a vast space in which I find myself at the center. In this work, I combine geometric precision with metaphysical depth. The golden structure symbolizes an inner order that floats in the endless blue of the unknown. The acrylic pigments and gilding create a vibrant surface that radiates both energy and tranquility. This image invites you to immerse yourself in the balance between form and feeling, knowledge and mystery.
My career as a painter began with my first pocket money, when I bought myself some wax crayons. I enthusiastically painted 'scratch pictures,' but over the years, the beginning of a potential career in painting was pushed aside by writing. In my hometown of Stuttgart, I trained as an editor at a daily newspaper, studied economics, and my heart belonged to journalism. With my three children, I discovered children's literature. I wrote children's radio plays for broadcasters and children's books for the Ravensburg publishing house. Others drew the wonderful illustrations. As a filmmaker, I accompanied the cameramen with language and content. Painting remained present in the background. In my current home of Berlin, my apartment has been transformed into a studio with a sawmill and lumberyard. I love it.
