About this artwork
A break, letting their legs dangle, doing nothing, chatting, and admiring the line. With the break, the space expands, beyond the picture frame, which then becomes part of the picture. I love the dancers during their break; everything vibrates around them as they enjoy being together.

My career as a painter began with my first pocket money, when I bought myself some wax crayons. I enthusiastically painted 'scratch pictures,' but over the years, the beginning of a potential career in painting was pushed aside by writing. In my hometown of Stuttgart, I trained as an editor at a daily newspaper, studied economics, and my heart belonged to journalism. With my three children, I discovered children's literature. I wrote children's radio plays for broadcasters and children's books for the Ravensburg publishing house. Others drew the wonderful illustrations. As a filmmaker, I accompanied the cameramen with language and content. Painting remained present in the background. In my current home of Berlin, my apartment has been transformed into a studio with a sawmill and lumberyard. I love it.
