About this artwork
This painting is inspired by Jocelyne Saucier's award-winning novel "It was raining birds" inhabited by the historical drama of the great Matheson fires at the beginning of the 20th century in the north of the Canadian province of Ontario. "When the wind rose and covered the sky with a dome of black smoke, the air became thin, it was unbreathable with heat and smoke, as much for us as for the birds and they fell like rain at our feet."
