About this artwork
We visited Berlin, my daughter and I. I had studied here long before she was born. Several lives lay between then and now, so to speak. Obligatory - the walk along Unter den Linden. Then I see this group. They are about to cross the street. "Hey, take a photo, please," I whisper to my daughter. She acts as if she were taking a photo of the sights, and we have the scene. The moment is soon forgotten amidst all the exciting experiences. It is only…
at home that it arouses my interest, and when I paint I understand what I have seen. The group in its cohesion, how it moves. Each person with their own characteristics. All of this in front of the venerable facade - motionless. The painting tries to make it visible. Egg tempera and oil paints on canvas do their best.
