About this artwork
Equinox Divided explores the delicate balance between opposing forces — light and shadow, calm and chaos, motion and stillness. I wanted to capture that fleeting moment when two worlds meet in perfect symmetry, neither dominating the other, both essential.
Each half was hand-etched into aluminium with precision patterns that radiate from a central sphere — the core of balance. On one side, cool silver lines ripple like reflected sunlight; on the… other, deep blue tones evoke the quiet pull of twilight. Together, they create a visual dialogue — day and night in conversation.
For me, this piece represents harmony through contrast. It’s about finding equilibrium in the divide — a sculptural reminder that duality is what gives form to beauty.
Owning Equinox Divided means living with that balance — a contemporary statement of unity and contrast, light and flow, art and reflection.

Christopher Henderson, trained as an engineer and sheet metal fabricator, channels over 25 years of industrial mastery into abstract metal art, fine metalwork, and sculpture. His modern style fuses intense craftsmanship with emotional expression, using etching, shaping, grinding, and colouring to create elegant, light-driven surfaces that appear to move and breathe. Henderson’s work radiates dynamic contrasts—strength and fragility, chaos and harmony—inviting viewers to experience emotion, energy, and a sense of wonder that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
