From a series revisiting Mediterranean seaside culture, Afternoon Siesta reconstructs a moment shaped by cultivated leisure and stylized restraint. The reclining figure inhabits a sun-saturated setting where wood, textile, and sand form a deliberate stage.
The parasol functions as both shelter and compositional device, casting ornamental shadow across the frame and directing the gaze. Light becomes architectural—defining contour, heightening contrast,… and elevating repose into icon.
What appears languid is carefully structured. The scene balances ease with awareness, nostalgia with construction, holding the figure in a space that feels timeless yet unmistakably composed.
