About this artwork
Since I live in North Rhine-Westphalia, a stronghold of carnival, a picture with a mask is nothing unusual.
For this purpose, I scanned and digitally edited my work "Venetian Mask".
Because wearing a mask during Carnival allows one to forget one's often serious everyday life and assume a different personality. One can say and do things one wouldn't otherwise dare.
You essentially split yourself into several people.
I wanted to depict this protection… offered by the masquerade, which allows one to break free from everyday life and celebrate exuberantly, with this image.
