About this artwork
Bardo is the name for the possible states of consciousness according to the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, in this world as well as in the hereafter. Butoh (Japanese expressive dance meets the cold concrete halls in the transformers/the former power plant in Berlin - Aya Irizuki dances on 33,000 square meters of industrial concrete floor, a touch of shadow and light in the flight of spatial dimensions. The body quotes the unfamiliar halls in gestures…
and arabesques, a rhythm that gets lost between the pillars, rediscovered and questioned in dialogue with Verena Wilhelm (dancer) and Six point nine (music by: Christoph Schauer and Alexander Struck).

Corinna Rosteck, born in 1968, grew up in Ibiza and in Hameln. She completed her master class studies in Painting and Art Photography at the University of Arts in Berlin, Printmaking Fine Art at the Central St. Martin's College of Fine Art in London and photo media at the International Center of Photography in New York. After spending time in London, Paris, Zaragoza, Muscat (Oman) and Abu Dhabi, the artist now lives and works in Berlin.
