“For Corinne Malfreyt, inspired by the choreography of Pina BAUSCH“ The Rite of Spring ”by Igor STRAVINSKI, the space between the bodies is still dance. She installs on her canvases an architecture of rhythms and chromatic nuances, a variation of gray sometimes punctuated by red resonances where the dancers' enthusiasm seeks and finds its place. Correspondence of the background and the forms, to render… the emotion felt, the colored material, within the suggested limits of the drawing, dance, pulsates and vibrates in harmonic cadences, in fragile balances, the instant of the composition (...) The artist's technique is original: sand applied to the canvas gives a particular material. The picture is painted with a knife in oil paint.

Corinne Malfreyt is an award-winning French artist who has exhibited her works nationally, as well as in China, Kuwait, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The major theme in her paintings is dance, as a symbol of movement. Another phase of Malfreyt's compositions relates to movement that is frozen in memories, reminiscences, and retinal persistence. In her creative process, she allows herself to be guided by varying thicknesses of sand, finishing with oils and emphasizing the rhythms of intervals between characters.
