This work expresses the constant movement and inner challenge we all face. The advancing figure, trapped in a circle, represents the struggle between the desire to move forward and the limitations we impose on ourselves. The resin gives it texture and weight, making that tension palpable. I wanted this sculpture to convey a vibrant energy that inspires us to break barriers and explore new paths in any space where it is placed.
Cristóbal Corbeaux, a self-taught architect and artist, is a Master of Fine Arts student at the Royal College of Art, London. He excels in painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. His style balances Renaissance and exploratory techniques, exploring the human figure using bronze, resin, and steel. He is interested in the hardness and permanence of the materials. The figure is placed in minimalist geometric environments, referencing the dreamlike and further contrasting the subject with the materials used. He is interested in emotions, the expression of the personal, but also the failures of representation and emotions that have become clichés. Corbeaux's works express the essence of humanity; they present a sensitive and fragile vision that seeks to remind the viewer of their own vulnerability.
