About this artwork
This series was created using waste collected in the Calanques by **Clean My Calanques**, a Marseille-based association dedicated to protecting the coastline and cleaning up natural spaces. From the hundreds of objects gathered, I chose the most unusual, those whose presence in the sea seems almost absurd. Once placed back in the water, they become the subjects of a deliberately ambiguous composition.
This reversal of perspective mirrors the shift… in our gaze. Like an iceberg, most of the story lies beneath the surface. What was merely a detail seen from above suddenly becomes the main subject. The almost fairytale-like aesthetic of these images contrasts sharply with what they actually represent: the persistent traces of our consumption in an ecosystem we often believe to be pristine.
A way of showing the other side of the coin, where pollution is discreet, silent, and almost invisible.
