About this artwork
The painting was shown in a major exhibition at the Afghan Embassy in Berlin several years ago. In this work, I captured the depth and resilience of the human spirit through the eyes of a worker. The layered acrylic paints highlight the rough textures of his skin and the intensity of his gaze, underscoring his unspoken story of work and survival. This portrait captures the essence of human strength and dignity, a constant inspiration in any room… that houses it. The painting was created from a photograph by Magnum photographer Steve McCurry.
