I wrote a poem to describe this painting:
Light yearns to gather itself —
yet the clouds, in their softness, scatter its intent.
The mountain strains toward its utmost height,
rising above all it refuses to remain.
Light and mountain reach for one another,
drawn by a silent desire to meet.
But the light cannot quite find its focus,
and the mountain can climb no further from the earth.
The light has not pierced the clouds.
The mountain has not… ceased to be the ground.
"Diffused Convergence" contains my experiences while walking along the Lucerne promenade, from which I admired the extraordinary play of light and Mount Pilatus on a beautiful, sunny October sky.
