About this artwork
Sometimes the real idea for a painting only emerges during the painting process. With these two rabbits, I quickly had the feeling that they were engaged in a silent dialogue. What happens between them remains open to interpretation – and that's precisely what I like about them.
I didn't want to depict this moment too explicitly. Instead, I worked with many layers of paint, loose brushstrokes, and flowing colors. This deliberately keeps the surroundings… lively and somewhat open, while the two rabbits clearly remain the focus.
Some viewers might see it as curiosity, perhaps caution, or simply a brief encounter. There is no single answer. And the image doesn't need to provide one.

I'm Daniel, a painter from Leipzig. I've been painting under the name danh1z since 2019 – first as an apprentice glass and porcelain painter in Kaufbeuren, then on my own.
What interests me is the tension between control and letting go. I work in layers – building up, reworking, revealing. Sometimes a painting is finished in hours, sometimes I work on it for weeks. Palette knives, brushes, flowing paint – whatever the painting needs.
The subjects change. Animals, cars, people. I paint what moves me, what challenges me, what I don't yet understand.
My works are held in private and institutional collections in Europe, the USA, and South Korea. In 2026, I was a jury member at the Geoje International Art Festival in South Korea—an experience that profoundly influenced me.
