About this artwork
Anemone, study on 300 gram Canson paper, 1968. I made this study in a studio at the age of 18. I attended a studio in Paris, on Boulevard Richard Lenoir, I went there every Saturday. I loved working with gouache, a medium I had been using since I was 10. I learned to paint with gouache, and it is a magnificent tool, which is both an approach to oil, but also to watercolor, which I still use today. The instructor of this Parisian workshop emphasized… the composition of space, and the highlighting of elements through a principle of clipping through the play of complements.
Daniel Olivier, a painter and draftsman trained from childhood, excels in the mastery of oil painting, where he experiments with mixtures of rare oils and complex glazes. He blends surrealism, symbolism, and hyperrealism, integrating the harmony of regulating lines and the golden ratio into each composition. His work reveals the poetic and energetic power of nature, inviting the viewer to profound contemplation, a search for beauty, meaning, and a sincere and luminous connection.
