At first, I never know what will happen to the canvas in front of me...
How I came to create this improbable bouquet placed in this underground parking lot, that is truly the mystery of creation! Everything is decided in the moment of doing, and everything is woven by the spirit that guides the gesture in its movement and the work towards its final destination.
With the oppressive COVID period, I began to draw a large number of "flowers of the… spirit": imaginary flowers, which, like characters, possess psychological attitudes identifiable by the viewer. Some were anxious, some rebellious, some armed to the petals, some desperate, and some fiercely combative until they bloomed. The flowers of the spirit in this painting are clearly resisters, somewhat anxious but standing tall. They will not give up easily, and they are anything but fragile...

Daniel PIRROTTA, a self-taught artist, expresses himself through painting, classical and digital drawing, and stone sculpture.
With a long and distinguished career behind him, he lives and works in Saintes in Charente-Maritime, after having practiced in Paris and then in Bordeaux.
His pictorial language draws its essence from the confrontation of the imaginary with the real. It stems from a slow evolution between the figuration of his early work and a long period of lyrical abstraction.
Today it offers an original and unique synthesis, neither figurative nor strictly abstract, but fully allusive, where nature, with its subjective power, is an obvious motif.
Because life, in all its ambiguity between the threat of its disappearance and its strength of persistence, is at the heart of his research, this is indeed an intimate narrative, a personal response to the tensions of the world.
His work exudes a strange beauty, both non-consensual and ambiguous, with a great poetic force.
