About this artwork
In this backward movement, there is a form of voluntary renunciation, a gesture that stems neither from a fall nor from momentum, but from a conscious surrender. The body ceases to resist, not out of weakness, but out of trust. It gives itself over entirely, without restraint, as one accepts no longer being in control of that which carries us.
What is at stake here is not the representation of a nude, but the inner experience of a transition. A… silent offering, akin to sacrifice, where surrender becomes an act of faith rather than a loss. Vulnerability is not displayed: it is embraced.
The gold background, composed of leaves and pigments, is not merely decorative. It creates a timeless space, a light that supports the gesture without exalting it. The gold welcomes, envelops, and transforms the moment into presence. In this suspension, trust becomes visible, and faith, a state of being rather than a belief.
