About this artwork
Arrive in Varanasi in the early morning by direct train from Agra.
I immediately head towards the gaths curious to discover this incredible world behind the sacred Indian city. I am immediately struck by the smell in the air, the smoke and the noises coming from the ablutions in the river.
As I walk I notice a small crowd around a man sitting in his tent.
It was the first aghori I had seen. Men who try in every way to push themselves to the limit… in this life so as not to reincarnate again. They live on the edge and this thing fascinates me. I approach him and ask if I can photograph him. He looks at me intensely together with his skull collected in the Ganges.

What happens next I will never forget, he looks at me and asks me for a tip (200 rupees is what I donated) he turns the skull indicating me to put the money in the skull. I did.
