About this artwork
"Ascension" emerges from ebonized wood, where fire reveals a hidden world of elongated creatures, birds, forest spirits, and enigmatic beings inspired by the mythology of the Amazon. Rising through the vertical composition, these figures evoke the invisible life of the rainforest—a realm where the boundaries between animal, human, and spirit dissolve.
Rather than illustrating a specific legend, the work imagines an ancestral landscape in constant… transformation. The upward movement becomes a symbol of growth, spiritual elevation, and the enduring vitality of the forest. Through the expressive language of wood and fire, *Ascension* offers a contemporary interpretation of the Amazonian worldview, where every living being belongs to a shared and sacred cycle of life.

Danilo Mileta is a Bolivian artist based in France, whose practice explores the intersection between subconscious perception, cultural memory, and intuitive creation.
Deeply influenced by his Amazonian and Bolivian roots, Mileta’s work draws from vibrant color palettes, symbolic animals, and organic forms that echo ancestral narratives while remaining open to contemporary interpretation. A central element of his practice is pareidolia: the act of allowing figures and scenes to emerge organically from stains, textures, and spontaneous gestures. His works function as psychological mirrors, inviting viewers to project their own emotions and interpretations, much like a Rorschach test.
His visual language embraces a deliberately childlike or caricatured aesthetic, inspired by the purity and honesty of early
