About this artwork
"Láctea" emerges through the natural oxidation of copper as a figure in constant transformation, where the female body merges with hybrid forms that evoke an ancestral chimera. Its generous volumes and protective presence allude to motherhood, fertility, and the extraordinary capacity of women to create and sustain life, even in the harshest environments.
The corroded surface of the metal recalls the ruggedness of the Bolivian Altiplano, where time,… climate, and matter leave indelible marks. Yet rather than expressing fragility, the figure embodies resilience: just as copper reveals its beauty through oxidation, the woman transforms adversity into strength, care, and endurance.
In *Láctea*, corrosion does not symbolize decay, but evolution. Matter changes, the body transforms, and life continues to emerge with the same quiet strength that has long sustained the memory of the Andes.

Danilo Mileta is a Bolivian artist based in France, whose practice explores the intersection between subconscious perception, cultural memory, and intuitive creation.
Deeply influenced by his Amazonian and Bolivian roots, Mileta’s work draws from vibrant color palettes, symbolic animals, and organic forms that echo ancestral narratives while remaining open to contemporary interpretation.
