About this artwork
Taken during the Native American Pow Wow Celebrations in New York, 2019. A time to gather and honor traditions, my goal was to visually translate the rhythmic beauty and spiritual energy found in cultural expressions. These celebrations have deep roots in historic warrior societies of the Southern and Northern Plains. I sought to harness this bedrock of tradition through the swirling colors of their dance movements. This work is crafted to breathe…
life and cultural reflection into any space.

Self-educated, Danny Johananoff thrives in photographing unique moments, often referencing world cultures. He paints with his camera, utilizing slow shutter speeds for abstraction and meaningful camera movement, engendering seemingly unfocused images that establish vivid color palettes for visual harmony. Mesmerized by far-flung locations and rich cultural experiences, his images encapsulate a radiant muse and strive to stir emotions akin to orchestral harmonies singing across desert dunes.
