« Reality cannot be found except in One single source, because of the interconnection of all things with one another. »
Darrell Evanes maintains that substances, whether material or immaterial, cannot be conceived in their bare essence without any activity. The sculptor believes that activity is the essence of substance in general. One of the key themes in his works is the exploration of fragments of time. Evanes employs reclaimed materials that 'were never meant for art' in his compositions. For him, 'life is raw material', and we can choose to sculpt it into something that is either beautiful or ugly.
