About this artwork
In this work, I poured raw emotion into acrylic strokes, capturing a haunting, winding path through shadowy woods. The expressionist style lets the viewer feel the tension and solitude, inviting personal reflection. I wanted this piece to evoke a mysterious, almost otherworldly energy, transforming any space into a contemplative sanctuary where one can lose and find themselves simultaneously.

David Coulson, initially renowned as a tattoo artist in Ontario, has recently embraced painting, seeking a free-flowing and abstract approach that departs from his tattoo background. His technique is loose and spontaneous, with minimal detail, allowing each piece to evolve unpredictably and leaving much to the viewer’s imagination. Through evocative post-apocalyptic scenes of Ontario swamps, abandoned cabins, and wildfires, his works stir profound contemplation about nature’s resilience and the transient mark of humanity.
