About this artwork
The painting *Hyde Park* by David Darcy, a gouache on paper piece, captures the dynamic energy of a bustling city in spring. Vibrant yellow dominates the composition, evoking sunlight, renewal, and the vibrancy of life during the season. Dark streaks and layered textures run horizontally across the surface, suggesting the movement and rhythm of urban life—a visual metaphor for the fast pace of the city.
The interplay of colour and texture creates… a sense of vitality and momentum, as if the park and its surroundings are alive with activity and change. The abstract nature of the work invites interpretation, with the horizontal lines perhaps alluding to pathways, the flow of people, or the fleeting moments of light and shadow.
Through its bold simplicity and dynamic contrasts, *Hyde Park* reflects the energy and vibrancy of springtime in the city, highlighting the interplay between natural renewal and urban movement.
« All art is an expression, when one is creating there is no divide from the practice and your inner-self. Every thought or movement marks an inquiry of self. »
