By reducing the details, the artist can concentrate… on the fundamental elements which define the subject and on the most significant elements of the face such as the eyes or the contour of the face.
The blue background acts not only as a background, but also as an integral element of the portrait. This color symbolizes serenity, depth and even infinity. The blue background brings an additional dimension that is both soothing and mysterious to the portraits.

David Decourcelle is a visual artist from Hauts de France.
A graduate of the Amiens Higher School of Art and Design, he obtained the Higher National Diploma in Plastic Expression in 2002.
David quickly established his unique artistic and graphic style.
His work is characterized by the creation of minimalist ink portraits on a monochrome blue background.
Through his creations, the artist explores recurring themes such as questions of identity, the gaze and otherness.
His work has been exhibited in numerous group and individual exhibitions in France and Spain.
