The work is rooted in Pop Art. This piece presents an American flag made of cardboard. The surface, marked by creases, tears, and areas of wear, gives the image an altered, almost vulnerable aesthetic. The instantly recognizable symbol appears to be subjected to the ravages of time, transport, and handling.
