About this artwork
This was the first still life I ever painted in goache in 1959 at Sutton Coldfield Art School. I was 16 years old. The wonderful old Art School building has now been remodeled into a fashionable upscale block of flats. My parents hung this painting for years in our hallway – long after I had left my hometown to pursue my training in the ultra competitive markets of New York City

David Kingham is a digital artist with a foundation in painting, draughtsmanship, printmaking, and sculpture from Sutton Coldfield College of Art in Warwickshire, later earning a diploma in Graphic Design. His studies led to an award-winning career as an Art Director in Toronto, Montreal, and New York City, where he also illustrated books for publishers like Simon & Schuster, Doubleday, and Easton Press. Years spent honing his craft in America remain evident in his work, which skillfully blends realism with spontaneous themes, inviting curiosity and emotional connection. After a long, prolific career in advertising, David traded the pressures of New York for the tranquility of France’s Charente Maritime, devoting himself fully to his first love — painting and the creation of digital art .
