About this artwork
Abstract interpretation of a relationship between two very different people. We can see through the difference via the shapes. Could be ethnic origin. Skin color. Country of origin. Age. Whatever those differences are, this piece represents a loving understanding and appreciation of these differences.
We all have strong feelings and emotions that often are in the background of life but in quiet moments or in dreams, those raw emotions can feel… ever present. We can all relate to this. I think I am very fortunate to be able to convert these strong sensations and re-interpret them into unique abstract works. This painting stands on its own without a story based upon the colors, shapes, surface, paints, and in some cases physical objects that are integrated into the painting.

Bio- David Levy is an American conceptual abstract artist whose work fuses intellectual inquiry with expressive form. After a successful career in advertising, he transitioned to self taught, full-time artmaking in 2017. Since then, his practice has grown rapidly, with a concentrated period of production between 2019 and 2023, shaped by lockdown and stay at home care for his wife over a 5-year period. Levy’s work spans geometric abstraction, illusionistic constructions, and concept-driven series that resist stylistic repetition. His paintings have been exhibited from New York to San Francisco and are held in private collections across the United States, Europe, and Japan.
