About this artwork
The original drawing was created with pen on paper many years ago when I was attracted to the physical shape of the human body. I often would focus on one part of the body with other parts either fading away or morphing into more generalized shapes in order to keep the observer's attention focused on the same area I was interested in.
The coloration phase of the work was completed by creating several copies of the sketch and then coloring the… background using colored pencils. The transfer of the original design to canvas was accomplished with a computer projector, projecting the original drawing onto the blank canvas whereby it could be redrawn at the proper size to fit the dimensions of the canvas. The colorized sketch would then be used to guide the application of the oil paints.
This work was painted on gallery wrapped canvas with the sides painted a dark complementary color. Gallery wrapped canvas requires no further framing and can be hung as is.
