This work is about the quality of wonder, that feeling of amazement that comes from the curiosity of all things in the universe around us. The young woman looks up at the sky and revels in the science of the subatomic particles that form it and is all around us if we could but see, all in motion and filled with energy. The building and mountains beyond are props that represent human and natural creation as well as forming perspective lines that…
accentuate the observer's position. I wanted the observer to physically have the sense of craning one's neck back and looking into the sky from ground level. To maximize the desired effect, the work is best hung so that the eye level of the observer is at the bottom of the painting, in other words, high up on a wall.
